Project Showcase - Stoughton, MA
From Dated to Done Right:
A Full Bathroom & Laundry Room Transformation
What We Were Working With
Before demo day, both spaces had the same story: original fixtures, worn surfaces, and layouts that hadn't been touched in years. The bathroom needed a full gut from the subfloor up. The laundry room needed more than a refresh; it needed a rethink.
Our team walked the spaces with the homeowner, talked through what was frustrating them day to day, and built a scope of work focused on function first, with finishes that would make both rooms genuinely enjoyable to be in.
The Challenges
- Outdated tile, worn grout, aging fixtures
- Inefficient layout in both rooms
- Laundry area with no real storage or utility
- Bathroom in need of a full gut renovation
- No cohesive style between the two spaces
The Results
- Fresh tile work, modern fixtures & clean lines
- Optimized layout for daily use
- Laundry room with built-in storage and flow
- Fully renovated bathroom from floor to ceiling
- Cohesive, updated aesthetic throughout
A Full Gut Renovation, Done the Right Way
We don't believe in patching over problems. The bathroom renovation started with a full demo, stripping it back to the studs to address anything hiding behind the walls before laying a single new tile. New cement board, waterproofing, and fresh plumbing rough-ins set the stage for a finished product that will hold up for decades, not just look good on day one.
New large-format floor tile, a tiled shower surround, updated vanity with under-mount sink, and modern fixtures throughout gave the space a clean, timeless feel. Proper ventilation, recessed lighting, and fresh paint tied everything together.
Making a Utility Space Actually Useful
The laundry room renovation was about rethinking what the space could be. New cabinetry above and beside the machines created storage that didn't exist before. Updated flooring made the room feel intentional instead of afterthought. Proper lighting and a fresh coat of paint turned what was a functional dead-end into a room homeowners actually don't mind stepping into.
Small details matter here, like making sure appliance hookups are accessible, shelving is at the right height, and there's actual countertop space for folding. These are the things that make a laundry room work for real life.
Spray Foam Insulation — Built to Code, Built to Last
A remodel is only as good as what's behind the walls. During the renovation, our team identified gaps in the existing insulation in the newly opened spaces — areas where heat loss and air infiltration were working against the home's HVAC system. Left unaddressed, these gaps mean higher energy bills, uneven temperatures, and a home that simply doesn't perform the way it should.
We applied closed-cell spray foam insulation throughout the affected areas to create a continuous air barrier, improve thermal performance, and bring the space fully up to current Massachusetts building code. Spray foam in a bathroom and laundry room environment also provides an added layer of moisture resistance — critical in high-humidity spaces where mold and structural damage can quietly take hold over time.
The result is a home that's tighter, more efficient, and built right, not just finished right.
Luxury Finishes from Frank Webb
For the shower, we partnered with Frank Webb — one of New England's premier plumbing showrooms — to source luxury fixtures that match the quality of the craftsmanship surrounding them. Frank Webb carries an exceptional selection of high-end brands, and our homeowner was able to select fixtures that fit their style, their budget, and their vision for the space.
The difference between builder-grade and luxury fixtures is something you notice every single day — in the feel of the handle, the pressure of the spray, the way the finish holds up over time. Investing in quality fixtures isn't just about aesthetics. It's about durability, warranty protection, and a shower experience that feels like an upgrade every morning.
Upper Construction works with trusted suppliers like Frank Webb because our clients deserve materials that perform as well as they look.
